Wildcats Beat Hilbert; Clinch No. 2 Seed for NEAC Tourney

HAMBURG, N.Y. – Penn College won a North Eastern Athletic Conference matchup on the road at Hilbert College on Saturday, 17-3. The Wildcats finished the regular season 4-1, while the Hawks dropped to 2-2.

How it Happened: The Wildcats started the game on the offensive attack and never looked back.  Penn College reached the scoreboard on a score from Quinn Caviola, assisted by Daniel Jackson, to take 1-0 lead.  The Wildcats added more scores with two from Dylan Klemas, one from Stephen Lepore, and a second from Caviola, to take a 5-0 advantage.  Hilbert reached the scoreboard just before the end of the first quarter as the Wildcats led 5-1.  The Wildcats attack continued as they won the second quarter 3-1 to take a 8-2 halftime lead.  Danny Harkins reached the back of the net on an assist from Lepore to start the second half.  Nathan Hugo scored unassisted as Caviola, Harkins and Lepore each scored again in the third quarter to take a 14-3 lead going into the fourth quarter.  The Wildcats added three more goals to earn the victory on the road 17-3 as they dominated from start to finish.  

Inside the Box: Caviola and Lepore paced the Wildcats offense with seven points apiece.  Klemas added three points on two goals and one assist.  Harkins added two goals, while Jackson, Hugo, and Garrett Corso tallied one goal apiece.  

Andrew Gobbi improved to 4-1 between the pipes with 13 saves.

Penn College was 16-25 on faceoffs and 22-23 on clears.

Outside the Box: With the win, the Wildcats extended their winning streak to four in a row and clinched the Number 2 seed in the NEAC post-season tournament.  

Up Next: Penn College will host the NEAC semi-final game on Wednesday, May 5, with the time and opponent to be determined.
