Penn College Opens NCAA Regional Against Virginia Wesleyan

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College will open the 2021 NCAA Division III Softball Championship against Virginia Wesleyan in the regional round, it was announced during Monday's Selection Show. The Wildcats (19-3) were seeded No. 6 and take on the No. 1-seeded Marlins (37-5), 10 a.m., on Friday.

The second contest of the regional round features TCNJ (23-3) opposite Gettysburg (11-3) and the third game is a contest between Moravian (29-1) and Farmingdale State (17-5).

The winner of the Penn College-Virginia Wesleyan game will play the loser of game three Saturday at 10 a.m., while the loser takes on the loser of game two Friday at 4 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament.
Penn College reached the tournament as the automatic qualifier by winning the North Eastern Athletic Conference title Saturday. This is the Wildcats first trip the NCAA Tournament.

The Marlins, ranked No. 2 in the recent National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll, make their fifth-straight appearance in the tournament as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference champions. VWU won back-to-back NCAA Division III titles in 2017 and 2018.
