AURORA, N.Y. — At Wells College in a United East Conference game on Wednesday, the Penn College men's basketball team dropped a 92-75 decision to fall to 2-11 overall and 2-4 in the conference. Wells is now is 9-6, 3-3.
How it happened: The Wildcats opened leads of 11 points twice in the first half — the first time at 15-4 on a layup by
Corey Blackwell and the second time at 23-12 on a 3-pointer by
James Ross — but a 16-4 Wells run gave it a 28-27 lead with 7:10 on the clock that it expanded to 13 points before leading 45-34 at the half.
Wells continued to pull away in the second half, leading by as many as 21 at 92-71 with 1:07 remaining in the game.
Inside the box: Blackwell led Penn College scorers with 22 points, while
Chris Coyne scored 15 points and pulled down a team-high 13 rebounds, and
Gavin Barrett scored 11 points and handed out 11 assists.
Ransel Rodriguez topped five Wells players in double figures with 27 points.
