WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — At home in a United East game on Tuesday, the Penn College men's basketball team got a rare triple-double from
Gavin Barrett in an 86-52 romp over Penn State Berks. Penn College now is 4-11 overall and 4-4 in the conference. Berks is 0-14, 0-8.
How it happened: Leading from start to finish, the Wildcats opened their first double-digit lead at 18-10 on a layup by
Chris Coyne with 5:35 left in the first half. As the half was drawing to a close, back-to-back layups by Barrett and Coyle helped stretch their lead to 16, 32-16, at the intermission.
Penn College started the second half with an 11-2 run and opened its largest lead of 44 points at 80-36 on a 3-pointer by
Nouhamadou Diallo with 4:57 to play. For the game, Penn College outscored Berks 44-26 in the paint and had 24 points off turnovers to 12 for the Nittany Lions. Since 2014, Penn College holds a 7-6 lead in the series.
Inside the box: In becoming the first Wildcat player in the college's NCAA era — since 2014 — Barrett finished with 13 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Coyne added 13 points and Sulesky 11 points for Penn College.
Aaron Lane led Penn State Berks with 14 points and Jared Houck added 13.
