WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College's men's and women's tennis teams split in nonconference action against crosstown rival Lycoming College on Friday with the men winning, 5-4, to go to 1-1 overall and the women losing their season-opener, 9-0.
How it happened: The Penn College men won three singles and two doubles matches, while the women's squad dropped all six singles and three doubles matches.
Inside the box: Winning for the men in singles were Kyle Shuler, at No. 2, 6-1, 6-2; Logan Ogden, at No. 5, 6-3, 6-2; and Ian Dayhoff, at No. 6, by forfeit. Wildcat doubles winners were Paul Langbein/Shuler at No. 1, 8-3, and Dayhoff/Dylan Ceprish at No. 3, by forfeit. For the Penn College women, Jordan Specht had the most competitive match at No. 5 singles, bowing 6-7 (3-7 tiebreaker), 3-6.
