BRONX, N.Y. – Penn College dropped a 69-59 decision to Lehman College in a nonconference women's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 1-8, while the Lightning improved to 4-5.
How it happened: Following three ties in the opening five minutes, Lehman took a 16-12 lead with 2:45 left in the first. The Wildcats ended the first with a 6-2 run and led 19-18 after
Lexi Troup's bucket with 19 seconds left. LC opened the second quarter with an 8-0 run to take its largest lead, 26-19, with 5:19 before the break. The Wildcats pulled within two on two different occasions – both on
Emily Pardee buckets – and a pair of
Rachel Teats free throws to end the second made it 33-31 at the break.
Lehman outscored Penn College, 22-9, in the third while the Wildcats outpaced LC, 19-14, in the fourth.
Inside the box: Teats led Penn College with 23 points, while Pardee, Troup, and
Aubrey Stetts all finished with 10 points.
Brianna Barnes led all scorers with 29 points for Lehman.
