LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn College dropped a close 18-17 contest in the rubber match of a three-game series to Lancaster Bible College in a United East baseball game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 1-2 United East, 7-8 overall, while the Chargers improved to 2-1, 7-8.
How it happened: After Penn College took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, LBC added five in the bottom of the frame. The Wildcats regained the lead with three in the third and two in the top of the fifth but the Chargers exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fifth to take 14-6 advantage. PCT made it 14-8 after scoring two in the top of the sixth until the Chargers added a run in the bottom of the inning.
Penn College plated seven runners in the seventh and one in the eighth to take a 16-15 advantage. The Chargers scored the go-ahead runs in the bottom of the eighth with three runners crossing home.

Kolten Smith each belted one to take advantage of the short porch at Bible. Price, Rudolph, Robison, and Nathan Gutskey each finished with three hits and

Joel Verrico took the loss on the mound after three innings of work.
