Wildcats sweep Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Penn College swept a United East baseball doubleheader against Gallaudet Sunday. The Wildcats won the first game 8-5 and took the nightcap 16-0 to improve to 3-2 UE, 9-9 overall.

How it happened: In game one, Penn College overcame a 5-3 deficit with five runs in the seventh inning to secure the win. Shane Price ripped a two-run single to center to tie the game at 5-5 before Evan Nagy added the go-ahead run with an infield single and Brian Robison provided the insurance runs when his double down the leftfield line brought in two runners.

The Bison took an early 4-0 lead with four runs in the third before Penn College made it a one-run game with three in the fifth. Kolten Smith and Jacob Carles both batted in a run in the third and an error plated the other run for Penn College to make it 4-3.

In game two, the Wildcats totaled 13 hits to bring in five earned runs and took advantage of nine Gallaudet errors to score 11 runs.

Inside the box: In game one, Carles and Robison both finished with two hits for the Wildcats. Chance Webb improved to 1-1 after 4.1 innings of hitless pitching. He struck out five and walked four.

In game two, Price went for 4 for 5 with two RBI to lead Penn College's offense. Carles finished with two hits, while Cameron Dick and Tyler Rudolph each had two RBI.
