MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Penn College swept Morrisville in a United East softball doubleheader Tuesday to increase its winning streak to seven games. The Wildcats improved to 11-1 United East, 15-6 overall after a 27-3 win in game one and a 13-1 victory in the nightcap.
Inside the box: Penn College totaled 18 hits and drew 14 walks in game one.
Hailey DeBrody led Penn College's offense by going 4 for 4 – including three doubles, with 5 RBI and 5 runs scored.
Kyla Benner and
Ivvy Morder both picked up three hits each, while Benner batted in four runs and Morder knocked in five runs.
Madison Shaffer and
Madison Herriman both added a pair of hits.
Benner improved to 8-3 after four innings of work. She allowed no runs, on one hit, with nine strikeouts, and one walk.
Taylor Cashner fired the final inning, allowing three runs, on three hits, with two strikeouts, and two walks.
In the second game, pitcher Mackenzie Weaver improved to 7-2 with a nine strikeout, two-walk, two-hitter. DeBrody went 2 for 4 with four RBIs; Jaylynn Cochran went 3 for 4 with three runs scored; and Morder had two doubles and scored twice.
