WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Kyla Benner tossed a perfect game and Mackenize Weaver followed with a no-hitter to lift Penn College in a sweep of Gallaudet in a United East softball doubleheader Friday. The Wildcats improved to 17-6 overall, 13-1 United East after a 9-0 win in game one and a 14-0 victory in the nightcap.
Inside the box: Benner went five innings and struck out 10 of the 15 batters she faced in the first game and improved to 9-3 and toss her second career perfect game.
Penn College scored two in the first, five in the third, and two in the fourth inning.
Maddie Hurst,
Olivia Hemstock,
Jordan Specht, and
Ivvy Morder all finished with two hits.
Hailey DeBrody, Specht, and Morder each finished with two RBI.
Weaver struck out seven and walked just one batter to improve to 8-2.
The Wildcats scored four in the first, two in the second and third, and six in the fourth.
Jaylin Cochran totaled three hits, while
Madison Shaffer, Specht, and DeBrody each finished with two hits. Hemstock batted in a game-high three RBI.
