WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 13-8 decision to St. Mary's in a United East men's lacrosse game Tuesday. The Wildcats fell to 2-2 UE, 7-7 overall, while the Seahawks improved to 3-1, 11-3.
How it happened: St. Mary's took an early 2-0 lead two minutes into the game but Penn College answered with goals by
Trevor Soli, from
James Thatcher, before Thatcher deposited a
Quinn Caviola pass to tie the game at 2-2 with 12:24 left in the first. The Seahawks exploded with five straight scores before
Josh O'Leary stopped the onslaught with a score to make it 6-3 at the end of the first.
The Wildcats started the second quarter with goals by Thatcher and
Brendan Kuczma to get within one, 6-5, with 8:55 on the clock. St. Mary's added a pair to cushion its advantage and Soli found the back of the net late in the third to get PCT within two, 8-6. The Seahawks outscored Penn College 5-2 in the fourth quarter.
Inside the box: Thatcher led Penn College with three goals and three assists and Soli added two goals and dished out three helpers.
James Cella stopped 14 shots in goal for Penn College.
