WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College tied defending United East champions, and regionally ranked, Penn State Harrisburg, 1-1, in a United East men's soccer match Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 0-1-1 UE, 1-4-2 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved to 1-0-1, 1-4-2.
How it happened: Penn College struck early in the game when
Dylan Dailey spilt a pair of defenders, after receiving a
Tad Shellenberger pass, and found the back of the net in the 15
th minute. PCT keeper
Cole Catherman, who stopped a pair of shots in the opening eight minutes, kept the lead intact with stops in the 31
st, 33
rd, and 44
th minute to keep the Wildcats ahead at the break.
Catherman picked up where he left off in the second with a diving save in the 56
th minute – and stopped four more shots in the second. PCT saw two quality shots on frame in the 64
th minute, but
Brandon Ratjavong and
Zach Foskey's attempt were turned away.
The Nittany Lions got on the board in the 83
rd minute with a blast to the upper 90 in the 83
rd minute and neither team had a shot on frame in the final seven minutes.
Inside the box: The Lions outshot Penn College 23-7 (11-4 on-goal) and held a 13-0 advantage in corner kicks.
Catherman finished with 10 saves.
