SELINSGROVE, Pa. --
Rachel Teats led the Penn College women's basketball team against Susquehanna in the first round of the Susquehanna Tip-Off Tournament. Teats finished with a team-high eight points as the Wildcats dropped a 54-35 final score to the tournament host. The Wildcats are 1-3 while the Riverhawks move to 2-1.
How it happened: Penn College started the night of strong when they jumped out to an 8-2 lead in the opening quarter.
Lexi Troup canned a trey and
Keeley Baker made one of two free-throws before Mia Paterson hit a turnaround jumper and
Emily Pardee scored in the paint at the 2:53 mark. Susquehanna closed the first on a 7-0 run for the 9-8 lead after 10 minutes.
Baker, Teats and Pardee baskets in the first three minutes of the second quarter added to the PCT score but the Riverhawks moved out to a 23-14 halftime lead with 14 points in the quarter. Susquehanna maintained a double-digit lead through the second half.
Inside the box: Teats grabbed six rebounds while adding a block and a steal in the game.
Lexi Troup led the Wildcats with 10 boards including nine on the defensive end and tallied seven points. Pardee finished with a team high three assists and six points.
Three Riverhawks finished in double digits, led by Julia Roth's team-high 12 points and eight rebounds.
Up next: PCT is back in action on Sunday, Nov. 19, at 1 p.m., in the tournament consolation game against Saint Elizabeth.
