Penn College Athletics is Thankful for Time to Give Back to the Community

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College Athletics is thankful for having the time outside of the classroom and competition to give back to Williamsport and surrounding communities. Since August 2023, Wildcats student-athletes have combined for over 1,500 community service hours, dedicating their extra time to participate in a wide array of projects to give back to their community. Below are highlights of the many activities our student-athletes have completed with more scheduled events throughout the spring.

PCT Men's Basketball team has logged more than 130 hours of community service so far this fall. The Wildcats have participated in the Out of Darkness Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk, helping support awareness for suicide prevention. Men's Basketball also has dedicated 30 hours towards helping clean up the City of Williamsport in August and their biggest project of the fall has been partnering with Team Impact to match with a child battling severe disabilities and showing support to their new teammate.

PCT Women's Volleyball gives back to local volleyball organizations, dedicating time to be youth league volunteer referees at the Williamsport YMCA and helping coach the Loyalsock Middle School club volleyball team. The Wildcats also spend time on campus as Move-In Weekend helpers and PA Build chaperones.

PCT Softball is present with the local Little League organization Trunk-or-Treat events, recently held by the East Lycoming Little League. The Wildcats also enjoy volunteering for the annual Little League World Series picnic and helping out on campus as Move-In Weekend helpers.

PCT Men's Lacrosse has helped out with many projects during the fall semester this year. The Wildcats helped cleanup the Susquehanna River Walk close to campus. The team has also been hands-on with Sojurner Truth Ministries and Habitat for Humanity organizations, helping build homes in the community. The Wilcats are also big supporters of cancer research and raising money for the Janet Weis Children's Hospital Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

PCT Women's Basketball recently volunteered to put smiles on faces at the East Lycoming YMCA Super Stars night! The Wildcats are also hands-on on campus with move-in weekend during back-to-school times every fall. 

PCT Baseball is always around when the Little League World Series comes to town. The Wildcats enjoy volunteering their time to help with the Little League World Series Challenger picnic and being the tarp crew at the Little League World Series Classic. PCT also lended a helping hand for the local American Rescue Workers organization at the Saving Grace Shelter.

PCT Women's Soccer gets out into the community to help with the Susquehanna River Walk cleanup. The Wildcats are also present on campus with helping hands on move-in weekend every fall semester.

PCT Men's Soccer has a lot of involvement around the community in fundraising efforts. Recently, the Wildcats held raise funds for the local Eat Share food charity. PCT also helped raise money for a local cancer benefit over the fall semester.

PCT Wrestling have been involved in many service projects this fall. The Wildcats have helped the Lycoming County Special Olympics Powerlifting Squad for a 12-week strength training program. PCT has also helped Habitat for Humanity build homes and some wrestlers have helped out the local youth football league hosted by Firetree Place - A local non-profit community center focused on youth development.
