MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Penn College dropped a 67-45 decision to Morrisville in the United East women's basketball semifinals Friday. The Wildcats concluded their season at 10-16, while the defending conference champion Mustangs improved to 19-7 and advanced to their second straight finals appearance.
How it happened: Penn College jumped out to 7-0 lead midway through the first quarter after buckets from
Emily Pardee and
Aubrey Stetts and a three from
Lexi Troup. Morrisville answered with a 7-0 run to tie game with 2:39 remaining in the first before
Ja'Quela Dyer made it 9-7 with 1:49 left. The Mustangs hit a buzzer-beating three to lead 10-9 after the first.
Morrisville built a 17-13 advantage early in the second before Stetts and Dyer netted consecutive jumpers to tie the game at 17 with 6:44 remaining before halftime. The Mustangs answered with an 11-0 spurt to take a 28-17 lead with 2:45 left before leading 30-20 at halftime.
The Wildcats pulled within eight, 35-27, following Dyer's layup with 5:42 on the clock before Morrisville closed out the quarter with a 17-6 run to lead 52-33 at the end of the third. The Mustangs retained a double-digit advantage the entire fourth quarter.

Rachel Teats led Penn College with 11 points and
Emily Pardee grabbed a team-best 10 rebounds.
Morrisville had five players reach double-figures in scoring, led by Brooke Hammersley's game-high 16 points.
