GREENSBURG, Pa. – Penn College fell to Pitt-Greensburg, 11-4 and 7-6, in a nonconference baseball doubleheader Monday. The Wildcats snapped a five-game winning streak and fell to 15-11, while the Panthers improved to 18-8.
How it happened: In game one, Pitt opened with a 7-0 lead, after two in the first and five in the second, before PCT plated three in the third and one in the fourth.
Nathan Gustkey accounted for all three runs in the third when he launched a three-run homer and
Jacob Carles' sacrifice fly in the fourth made it 7-4. Pitt added four in the fifth.
In game two,
Tristan Current put Penn College ahead, 2-0, in the first with a two-run single. The Panthers tied the game in the with two in the third before the Wildcats added four in the top of the fifth with RBIs from Hanafin,
Tyler Rudolph, and
Cameron Dick. Pitt tied the game in the bottom of the fifth with four runs and walked-off with a run in the seventh.
Inside the box: Gustkey,
Quinn Hanafin, and
Brian Robison each picked up three hits.
Jonas McGrath fell to 0-4 after one inning on the mound.
Hanafin and Carles finished two hits for the Wildcats.
Chase Hoffman fell to 0-1 after 1.1 innings of work.
