Hitesman's Double Figure Scoring Leads Wildcats at Harrisburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. -- Penn College women's basketball's Bell Hitesman led the team with double-digit scoring as the Wildcats dropped a United East Conference matchup at the Volt Division-leading Penn State Harrisburg, 74-44, on Wednesday night. The Wildcats fall to 1-6 in league action (5-15 overall), while the Lions improve to 6-1, (9-11 overall).

How it happened: Penn College flexed it muscle early in the first quarter as Hitesman hit four layups in the frame for eight of the team's 14 points. Rachel Teats started the game off with a  triple and Emily Pardee converted an and-one effort to put the Wildcats up 12-9 with 1:35 to go in the first quarter.

Harrisburg regained a 15-14 advantage after the first ten minutes. Kenni Galbreath put the Wildcats back in front with a three to start the second quarter, Mia Patterson and Pardee hit consecutive layups to keep the score 21-17, in favor of the Penn College before Harrisburg used a 20-2 run over the next eight minutes for a 37-23 lead at the break. 

The home teams kept its distance in the second half for the 74-44 outcome.

Inside the box: Hitesman finished with a team-high 10 points while Pardee added nine as the Wildcat duo both finished with five rebounds. Teats was held under double-digit scoring for just the second time in conference games - also against Harrisburg (two points on Nov. 28) - finishing with seven points and a team-best seven rebounds and three assists.

Giahny Correa scored a game-high 20 point to lead Harrisburg. Ciani Redd-Howard (13) and Abril Bowser (10) also finished in double figures.

Up next: Penn College returns home to Bardo Gym for a Saturday afternoon tip-off in a rematch against St. Mary's at 3 p.m.
