AURORA, N.Y. -- Penn College women's basketball capped its nonconference schedule with a convincing, 75-25, victory at Wells College on Monday night. The Wildcats improve to 5-11 while dropping the Express to 0-11.
How it happened: A 7-0 start to the game sparked the Wildcats offense with
Lexi Troup draining the game's first points with a three while
Emily Pardee and
Bell Hitesman followed with a pair of layups.
Mia Patterson made it a 10-point game with just over two minutes remaining in the first quarter with a layup of her own.Â
Kayleigh Miller registered her first two buckets of her career night to start the second quarter to give the Wildcats an 18-6 lead just 20 seconds into the frame. Penn College erupted for 30 points in the quarter behind 15 by Miller while
Rachel Teats,
Kenni Galbreath,
Eliza Newcomer,
Emily Woolson and
Maddie Adams also contributed for the 44-11 halftime lead.Â
Penn College combined for 31 points in the second half while limiting Wells to nine points or less in all four quarters in the largest margin of victory this season.Â
Inside the Box: Miller scored a career-high 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting including five three-pointers. Pardee finished the night also in double digits with 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting as 13 Wildcats registered at least one point in the victory. Penn College shot a season-high 47.8% (33-of-69) while its defensive effort limited Wells to eight field goals, blocked nine shots and had 14 steals on 25 Express turnovers.
