ANNVILLE, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 79-74 double-overtime setback to Lebanon Valley College in a nonconference men's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 2-3, while the Dutchmen remained unbeaten at 4-0.
How it happened: A pair of
Livingston Cross free throws, with 2:50 left in the game, gave the Wildcats a 62-54 lead before LVC went on an 8-0 run to tie the game at 62 with 36 seconds left. Ronn Flood Jr. missed a layup with seven seconds left but made up for it on other end with a game-saving block as time expired.
The Wildcats led by four, 67-63, on a
Gavin Barrett traditional three-point play with 3:17 remaining in the first overtime period. LVC netted four unanswered to force a second OT, where the Dutchmen separated from a 70-70 deadlock with a 9-4 run in the final 3:46.
Penn College led 33-29 at halftime, and opened the second half with a 24-11 run to take a 57-40 lead on Cross' jumper with 11:57 left in regulation.
Julien Leveille's three gave PCT its final double-digit lead, 60-48, with 8:54 on the clock before LVC made its late rally.
Inside the box: Cross picked up a double-double with a game-high 25 points and a game-best 18 rebounds.
DJ Smith III finished with 15 points, and Barrett ended with nine points, seven rebounds, and five assists.
