Wildcats Double Up Alfred University

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College baseball racked up 26 runs to sweep Alfred University in a nonconference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. The Wildcats won 15-3 in game one before an 11-1 final in game two. PCT improved to 15-14 on the season and the Saxons dropped to 1-22. 

In game one, 
Penn College batted around to score five runs in the first inning and 10 in the third.  The Wildcats racked up 15 hits and 10 walks as five different wildcats earned two hits. Quinn Hanafin drove in a team-high three runs and Adam Aldenderfer scored three times. Matt Munoz and Aldenderfer both finished with two RBIs. 

Ryan Sawyer, Ethan Eckard and Charlie Hornberg combined to scatter five hits and strikeout six as Eckard picked up his second win on the mound after two innings of work. 

In game two, 
The Wildcats continued their offensive momentum with three runs in each of the second, third and fifth innings while scoring once in the fourth and sixth. After Alfred took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, Jaydon Goebel tied the game in the second inning with an RBI single to score Kevin Cute who started the inning getting hit by a pitch. Goebel later scored on a bases-loaded walk by Anthony Barbella and David Wagner scored on the next at-bat when Ethan Stahl hit into a fielder's choice to the shortstop.

Goebel led the Wildcats at the plate with three hits while scoring twice and driving in two. Wagner had three RBIs and crossed the plate twice. Sam Staib got his second won on the season with two innings of work, allowing just one hit.

Up next: Penn College heads to St. Mary's for their final United East road series starting on Friday at 3 p.m.
