ABINGTON, Pa. — Penn College's tennis teams were swept in United East play at Penn State Abington on Thursday, the men losing 7-2 and the women falling 9-0.
The Penn College men are now 1-4 in the UE and 1-8 overall, and the Wildcat women are 1-3 UE and 4-7 overall. Abington's men are 4-2 UE and 6-7 overall, and its women are 2-2 UE and 5-9 overall.
How it happened: Abington's men won four singles and all three doubles matches and its women won all six singles and three doubles matches.
Inside the box: Scoring wins for the Penn College men were Logan Ogden at No. 3 singles, 4-6, 6-3, 10-4, and Matt Williams at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4. In competitive doubles matches for the Wildcat men were Ogden-Hunter Knosky at No. 3, who lost 8-7, and Kyle Shuler-Jesse Kight at No. 1, who lost 8-5.
The most competitive match for the Penn College women came at No. 1 singles where Ellen Buckley lost 6-3, 6-2.
