LANGHORNE, Pa. — Penn College's tennis teams dropped their season-ending United East matches at Cairn University on Saturday with the men falling 5-4 and the women losing 8-1.
Penn College's men end 2-9 overall and 2-5 in the UE and its women finish 4-8 overall and 2-5 UE. Cairn's men now are 5-4 overall and 4-2 UE and its women are 9-1 overall and 5-0 UE.
How it happened: For the men, Penn College won three of six singles matches and one of three doubles matches.
For the women, Cairn won five of six singles, four by forfeit, and all three doubles matches, two by forfeit.
Inside the box: Winning for the Penn College men were Kyle Shuler at No. 1 singles, 7-5, 6-1; Logan Ogden at No. 3 singles, 6-1, 7-5; and Jason Manbeck at No. 5 singles, 4-6, 6-2 (10-8 tiebreaker). And in doubles, Shuler-Jesse Kight at No. 1 with an 8-4 pro-set.
For the women, the lone winner was Faith Murray at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-3.
