LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 63-58 decision to Lancaster Bible College in a United East women's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 8-2 United East, 11-8 overall, while the Chargers improved to 5-5, 8-10.
How it happened: Penn College overcame an early four-point deficit, 8-4, with a 7-0 run – with five points from
Rachel Teats and two by
Gigi Parlante – to take an 11-8 lead with 2:56 left in the first. LBC answered with a 12-2 spurt to end the quarter ahead, 20-13. The Chargers outscored PCT, 16-9, in the second to lead 36-22 at halftime.
The Wildcats exploded out of halftime with a 16-2 run, led by seven points from Teats and six by Rae Anna Andreas, to tie the game at 38 with 3:49 on the clock. Parlante's basket with 58 seconds left tied the game again, 42-42, before LBC end the quarter on a 5-1 run.
The Wildcats opened the final quarter with a 6-2 spurt to tie the game at 49, on
Lexi Troup's layup, with 6:15 left in the game. LBC held a slight advantage the remainder of the game, with PCT pulling as close as two, 60-58, on a Troup layup with 19 seconds left. The Chargers iced the game by going 3 of 4 from the line in the final seconds.
Inside the box: Parlante shared a game-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Wildcats. Troup added 16 points and six rebounds, Teats contributed with 12 points and eight rebounds, and
Emily Pardee finished with nine points, six assists, and six rebounds.
