PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. -- Penn College picked up its first United East Conference volleyball victory on Friday night at Valley Forge. The Wildcats swept the match in three sets, improved its conference record to 1-2, 4-15 overall. The Patriots dropped to 0-3 UE, 5-7 overall.
How it happened: Penn College earned set victories of 25-12, 25-15, 25-19 to pick up the win. In the first set, the Wildcats strung together two seven-point runs to lead 19-5 while a Valley Forge error gave the Wildcats their set-clinching 25th point.
Another UVF error closed out the second set and Penn College scored five-straight points including a
Kylie Kline service ace for the 24th point, and a
Lilly Stockum kill for the 25th point finished the match.Â
Inside the box: Haylie Thomsen scored the conference's third-best mark in service aces when she finished with seven, Kline added four and
Nashalie Vializ hda two. Vializ led the Wildcats with 15 assists and Kline led with 11 digs. Stockum led the offensive efforts with eight kills and
Mya Gilliam scored six kills.
Penn College held UVF to just eight total kills and a munis-.063 hitting percentage.Â
