Men's Cross Country

Penn College men third, women fifth in UEC Championship races

MEDIA, Pa. — Penn College's men finished third in a 10-team field and its women placed fifth among eight teams in the United East Conference Cross-Country Championships hosted by Penn State Brandywine on Saturday. Individual leaders for the Wildcats were Alexis Durn, eighth in a 68-runner field, and Mitchell Campbell, 12th among 84 men.

Penn College men 8K: Campbell 12th in 30:36.12, Chase Ebeling 13th in 30:36.52, Ben Causak 18th in 31:13, Holden Furey 20th in 31:29, Aaron Guerrisky 23rd in 31:45, Ethan Knapp 25th in 31:51.10, Ben Heym 27th in 31:58.84, Oliver Galicki 28th in 32:18, Jacob Parker 38th in 33:42, Owen Troop 39th in 34:09, JJ Pencil 40th in 34:13, Matthew Wheeland 54th in 36:54, Jackson Small 60th in 39:19, Nathan Love 65th in 40:35. The top five count in team scoring.

By virtue of their finishes, Campbell, Ebeling and Causak earned all-conference second-team honors, with Furey, Guerrisky, Knapp and Heym on the third team.

Men's field: Penn State Berks 44, St. Mary's (Md.) College 55, Penn College 86, Penn State Abington 136, Lancaster Bible College 144, Valley Forge 157, Penn State Harrisburg 159, Cairn 162, Gallaudet 211, Penn State Brandywine 282.

Individually, Gallaudet's Sevan Ikeda was first in 27:23.

Penn College women 6K: Durn eighth in a personal-best 26:12, Elaina Brady 17th in 27:55, Ellie Miller 23rd in 28:56, Natalie Greiner 39th in 32:20, Gwynn Johnson 40th in 32:26, Adelyn McDermott 41st in a season-best 32:41, Isabella Telford 63rd in 42:35. The top five count in team scoring.

For their efforts, Dern was named to the all-conference first team, Brady to the second team and Miller to the third team. Also, Brady was the Women's Elite 21 Academic Award winner.

Women's field: St. Mary's (Md.) College 53, Lancaster Bible College 58, Penn State Harrisburg 84, Cairn 98, Penn College 117, Cedar Crest 119, Valley Forge 156, Penn State Brandywine 238.

Individually, Cairn's Clarisse Hayden placed first in 23:58.
