WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College remained unbeaten, and improved to 3-0, following a 66-38 victory over Penn State Mont Alto in a nonconference women's basketball game Tuesday. The Nittany Lions fell to 0-2.
How it happened: The Wildcats pulled away from a one-possession game midway through the first quarter with an 8-2 run to lead 15-8 on
Gigi Parlante's layup with 2:19 left in the opener and led 17-10 at the end of the period. Penn College used an 18-0 run to open the second quarter and led 37-10 on
Breana Valentine's trey with 5:13 left in the second, en route to a 42-14 halftime lead.
Penn College outscore Mont Alto, 15-13, in the third, while the Lions outpaced PCT, 11-19, in the fourth.
Inside the box: Valentine scored a game-high 18 points for Penn College and grabbed a team-best six rebounds. Parlante and
Lexi Troup both finished with 11 points, while Parlante pulled six boards, and
Kenni Galbreath dished out a game-high five assists.
Up next: The Wildcats return to action Saturday, 2 p.m., at Pitt-Bradford.
