MANHEIM, Pa. -- Penn College's
TJ Martin,
Carter Davis and
Nicholai Brotzman were mainstays in the second release of the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) rankings, released on Friday. Davis (York, Pa.) remained the second ranked 165-pound wrestler in the Region 2 polls, but also made a jump to the national rankings being slotted 13th. Martin (Honesdale, Pa.), the Wildcats starting 149-pounder, made his move from No. 5 to No. 2 in Region 2 and 285-pound sophomore, Brotzman (Marietta, Pa.) remained at No. 5 in the second Region 2 rankings of the season.
Davis is 8-0 on the season with tournament titles at the Ithaca Invitational and Shenandoah Invitational. Davis has racked up one pin, three tech falls, one major decision and three decisions so far.
Martin holds a 10-1 record and an individual tournament title at the Ithaca Invite. The Wildcats starting 149-pounder has four pins, two tech falls and three decisions this season.
Brotzman is 2-2 with two falls in just one outing at the Ithaca Invitational this year.
Penn College hosts Averett and Alvernia on Saturday in Bardo Gym. Action gets underway with the Cougars and Golden Wolves squaring off at 11 a.m., before the Wildcats are in action for rounds two and three at 12:30 and 2 p.m.
