ABINGTON, Pa. -- Penn College dropped a 3-0 final against seventh-seed Penn State Abington in the first round of the United East Women's Volleyball playoffs Wednesday evening. The Wildcats finish their season with a 6-22 season in their first playoff appearance in the NCAA-era. Abington moves on to the quarterfinals with a 15-9 record.
How it happened: The Lions won by set scores of 25-11, 25-12 25-21. Down 20-9 in the final set, the Wildcats rallied for 10-straight points to try and extend the match. Kylei Kline scored a service ace and
Lilly Stockum posted four kills in the run to pull the Wildcats within two (21-19) before Abington closed out the match with five of the next seven points.
Inside the box: Lilly Stockum posted a team-best 14 kills while
Haylie Thomsen scored four kills and
Mya Gilliam added two kills.
Kylie Kline and Thomsen scored a team-high eight digs and
Ellen Banfill dished out 16 digs in the season finale.
