MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 78-68 decision to Penn State Harrisburg in a United East women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 8-4 United East, 11-10 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved to 9-4, 15-6.
How it happened: Harrisburg held a 10-6 lead midway through the first quarter before baskets from
Lexi Troup and
Emily Pardee tied the game at 10 with 3:46 left in the quarter. After the Lions regained the lead,
Kayleigh Miller deadlocked the game again, 12-12, with a jumper with 2:20 on the clock before the Lions held a 15-14 advantage at the end of the quarter. Harrisburg opened the second quarter with an 11-2 run and led again by 10, 32-22, with 35 seconds left. A three by Miller, and a layup from Troup, made it 32-27 at halftime.
The Lions used an 8-2 spurt to start the third and led by as many as 13, 44-31, with 4:44 left. PCT got as close as six, 47-41, on a
Gigi Parlante layup with 1:26 left before Harrisburg led 51-41 at the end of the quarter. The Lions maintained a double-digit advantage for the majority of the fourth.
Inside the box: Parlante scored a team-high 24 points and grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds, while Troup finished with 14 points.
