GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Penn College doubled up Guliford, 20-10 in nonconference men's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon to stretch its winning streak to four-straight. The Wildcats improved their record to 4-2 and dropped the Quakers to 2-4.
How it happened: The Wildcats opened with a 5-0 lead in the first quarter with
Owen Kupsey scoring the first two goals at the 14:10 and 13:26 marks on assists from
Elliot Dotson. Dotson deposited the Wildcats' third goal at the 10:38 mark and
Harrison Schlachta and
Jake Small added goals at the 10:00 and 9:53 marks.
Guilford outscored the Wildcats, 4-3 in the second frame to bring down the deficit to 8-5 at the half before a 12-goal second half proved too much for the Quakers. Kupsey finished off his hat-trick with his third goal at the 10:53 mark in the third quarter and followed up with his fourth of the day just a minute later. Dotson scored his third goal with 4:42 left in the third and tacked on two more in the fourth quarter.
Inside the box: Dotson led the Wildcats with a game-high seven points on five goals and two assists. Kupsey scored four goals and
Will Ehret added three to give the Wildcats a trio of hat-tricks.
Mason Nester forced three turnovers and
Connor Gentile forced two turnovers and collected two ground balls while
Ryan Twist posted four of the Wildcats' seven saves in the victory.
Penn College outshot Guilford, 52-33 and won 28-of-33 faceoffs.
