Wildcats rout Cairn, set program win mark

LANGHORNE, Pa. — Penn College men's lacrosse team used a 12-goal first period en route to a 26-2 United East victory at Cairn University on Saturday. The win upped the team's UE record to 2-1 and its overall record to 12-4 — the 12-win season is a program best — and clinched a berth in the UE playoffs. Cairn dropped to 0-4 in the conference and 0-11 overall.

How it happened: After the 12-goal first frame, the Wildcats added four goals in the second period, seven in the third, and three in the fourth while limiting Cairn to two goals in the final period.

Inside the box: Aidan McFalls started the scoring at the 14:37 mark in the opening period, and after a three-goal Penn College burst within 14 seconds from 11:44 to 11:30, the rout was on.

Owen Kupsey led the offense with five goals, Elliot Dotson recorded a hat trick and added four assists, and AJ Dotson had three goals and one assist as the Wildcats had 54 shots on goal while limiting Cairn to five. Antonio Santora was 9 of 9 in faceoffs and had 10 ground balls, Levi Borkowski was 8 of 8 in faceoffs, and Brody Borkowski was 10 of 12 in faceoffs. Ryan Twist started in goal and made one save to get the win, and Fisher Makuch finished with two saves and both goals allowed.
