CLEVELAND, OHIO – Penn College dropped a 5-0 decision against No. 15 Wisconsin-Whitewater in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Cleveland Regional Thursday. The Wildcats dropped to 28-16, while the Warhawks improved to 36-6.
Penn College will play an elimination game Friday, 1:30 p.m., against Lebanon Valley, while Wis.-Whitewater will take on Case Western at 11 a.m. The second elimination game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
The Warhawks did all their offensive damage with five runs in the third inning, while Josie Hammen tossed a complete-game no-hitter to anchor the defense.
Mackenzie Weaver fell to 15-8 after 2.1 innings in the circle. She surrendered three earned, on four hits, with one strikeout and a walk.
Mackenzi Tice tossed 3.2 perfect innings, with four strikeouts.
