WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -- Penn College needed five sets to come out on top in a thrilling five-set victory over Penn State Schuylkill in nonconference volleyball action on Monday night inside Bardo Gymnasium. The Wildcats upped their season record to 3-12, already matching last season's wins total. Schuylkill fell to 3-4.
How it happened: Penn College struck first with a 25-16 opening set victory, hitting .200 as a team while
Lilly Stockum scored four kills and
Sara Seyfert posted four service aces in the set.Â
The Lions came back swinging to earn the 25-13 set two win followed by a pair of tight-matched sets three and four won by the WIldcats (25-23) and the Kions (28-26), respectively to set up the winner-take-all fifth frame.
The fifth set saw 10 ties and four lead changes exchanged by the two squads. With the scored tied at 14-all,
Lilly Stockum and
Sara Seyfert slammed the door shout with a pair of kills to claim the Wildcat victory.
Inside the box: Stockum recorded her second-straight double-double with a new season-high 22 kills and 15 digs while dishing out three service aces.
Ellen Banfill dished out 29 assists andÂ
Nashalie Vializ dug 28 Lion attempts and added four service aces while
Kendall Shade finished with seven blocks (6 assisted).
