Andreas & Herzer Career Nights Lead Wildcats Over Berks

READING, Pa. -- Penn College sophomores RaeAnna Andreas and Kayla Herzer's career-highs led the Wildcats past Penn State Berks, 69-47, in a United East women's basketball game Tuesday evening. The Wildcats have won 10 consecutive games against the Lions and third-straight game to move to 4-1 UEC, 12-5 overall. The Lions fell to 1-4 UEC, 2-13 overall.

How it happened: After a cold start from both offenses, Andreas got the scoring started with 6:11 on the clock and scored 10 of the Wildcats first 14 points to lead 14-5 after the first quarter. Breana Valentine stretched the Wildcats lead to double digits (18-8) with back-to-back buckets in the second quarter and her layup with 11 seconds left in the first half gave the Wildcats a 35-24 lead at the break.

Penn College had a balanced attack in the third quarter to outscore Berks, 20-11 as Lex Troup scored six points, Kayla Herzer had five, Emily Woolson scored four and Kenni Galbreath and Mia Patterson combined for the first five points in the frame, extending the Wildcats lead to 55-35 after three quarters of action to coast to the finish.

Inside the box: Andreas finished with a career-best 16 points while Herzer notched career-highs in both points (15) and assists (5) in the victory. Valentine recorded her third double-double of the season with 12 points and a team-high 12 boards while also leading the team with five assists, four steals and a block.

The Wildcats nailed 42% (28-66) of their shots while forcing 23 turnovers and limiting Berks to just 27% (17-62) shooting in the win.
