LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn College held the lead for 38 of the 40 minutes in a 63-44 United East Conference victory at Lancaster Bible in women's basketball action Wednesday evening. The Wildcats improved to 6-1 in the conference, 14-5 overall, while the Chargers fell to 5-3 UEC, 7-13 overall.
How it happened: The Wildcats led for the entire game for the third straight outing to secure their fifth straight victory.
Mia Patterson scored the first five points of the game while
Gigi Parlante pitched in with four and
Kenni Galbreath drained a three, helping the Wildcats take a 12-4 lead midway through the first quarter. PCT held a 20-12 lead after Parlante ended the first quarter with a layup.
The Penn College defense held Lancaster Bible to just eight made shots through the first half while Patterson stretched the Wildcats lead to 10 (26-16) to go in the half and a
Kayla Herzer layup gave the Wildcats a 30-22 lead at the break.
The Wildcats outscored LBC, 33-22 in the second half to control the game.
Inside the box: Penn College shot 51% (26-51) as a team and outrebounded the Chargers 39-25. Parlante recorded her eighth double-double of the season with a game-high 25 points and 12 rebounds. Herzer (12) and Patterson (11) also reached double-digit points and
RaeAnna Andreas grabbed 10 boards in the win.
