Wildcats Chase Down Falcons

ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Penn College completed a three-quarter comeback to earn a 55-52 victory at Cedar Crest in a United East women's baketball tilt Wednesday night. The Wildcats picked up their seventh conference victory (7-2 UEC), 15-6 overall while the Falcons dropped to 5-4 UEC, 12-8 overall.

How it happened: Cedar Crest opened the game with a 19-11 lead after the first quarter before the Wildcats outscored the Falcons in the next three periods. 

Breana Valentine and RaeAnna Andreas both scored five points to lead the Wildcats on a 10-2 run in the second quarter to tie the game at 21-21 with four minutes left in the first half. Andreas gave PCT a brief lead with a fastbreak layup a minute later before Cedar Crest took a 29-23 lead at halftime.

The Falcons maintained momentum in the third to gain a double-digit lead before the Wildcats stormed back with a 120- run to regain a 38-37 lead on a Lex Troup layup with 1:40 remaining in the third quarter. 

Kayla Herzer provided the spark down the stretch in the fourth with six-straight points to tie the game at 50-50 and score the go-ahead bucket with 1:37 left to lead 52-51 before Gig Parlante and Troup closed out the game with the final three points. 

Inside the box: Herzer recorded her second double-double of the season with 10 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. Valentine finished with a team-high 13 points while Troup (11) and Andreas (10) also finished in double-digits for the Wildcats. Valentine als led the Wildcats with four assists and three steals. 

Up next: Penn College remains on the road to take on Penn State Brandywine at 3 p.m., on Saturday.
