BALTIMORE, Md. – Penn College fell to Notre Dame of Maryland, 92-70, in United East men's basketball action Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats fell to 0-2, 1-12 overall, while the Gators remained undefeated in United East play, 3-0, 9-6 overall.
How it happened: The Wildcats and Gators went shot-for-shot through the first six minutes of play before
Octavio Alexander and
Peyton Murphy 3s gave the Wildcats an 18-14 lead with 13:08 to play in the opening half. Notre Dame regained the lead with three free throw attempts with 11 minutes remaining and closed on a 21-12 run to lead 41-32 at the break.
A
Landon Reeder bucket got the Wildcats within eight points (46-38) with 17:19 to go in the second half, but it would be the closest the Wildcats could get to the returning conference runner-up.
Inside the box: Alexander was the lone Wildcat in double-digits as he poured in a season-high 24 points. Murphy added eight points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds while
Owen Newcomer dished out a team-best six assists. Reeder and Jay both finished with nine points.
Six different Gators scored 10-or-more points and outshot the Wildcats 56% (38-68) to 40% (23-57).
