SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College's men's and women's tennis teams each posted United East Conference wins over Penn State Abington on Tuesday, the men winning 4-3 and the women winning 5-2. The Penn College men are now 1-2 UE and 2-5 overall, and its women are 2-2 UE and 3-8 overall. Abington's men are 2-2 UE and 6-5 overall, and its women are 0-4 UE and 1-9 overall.
How it happened men: Penn College took three of six singles matches and two of three doubles matches.
On the court men: Winning for the Wildcats in singles were Josh Myers at No. 2, 6-2, 6-3; Logan Ogden at No. 3, 7-5, 6-2; and Matt Williams at No. 4, 6-1, 6-4. Taking their doubles matches were Kyle Shuler-Myers at No. 1, 7-5; and Ogden-Williams at No. 2, 6-1.
How it happened women: Penn College captured four singles and two doubles matches.
On the court women: Wildcat singles winners were Ellen Buckley at No. 1, 7-5, 6-1; Leah Vest at No. 2, 6-2, 6-2; Faith Murray at No. 3, 6-0, 6-0; and Kiera Wene at No. 4, 6-2, 6-1. Doubles victors were Buckley-Vest at No. 1, 6-0; and Murray-Wene at No. 2, 6-0.
Up next: The Penn College men are at Alfred University at 3 p.m. on Friday in a nonconference match. The women play again on Saturday in UE action at Penn State Berks at noon.
