WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Penn College men's tennis defeated Lycoming, 5-2, in nonconference tennis action on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats won five of six singles matches, taking points at No. 1 and 3-6 after earning one win in doubles. PCT is 1-0 overall. Lycoming is 0-1 overall.
How it happened: Lycoming earned the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Logan Hammond and Kayvan Shams defeated
Eli Greeley and
Joshua Myers 6-4 at No. 1, and Keegan Gill and Mason Morrow clinched the point for Lycoming with a 6-4 win over
Connor Stank and
Cruz Nagle at No. 3. PCT took the final doubles court to finish, with
Avery Hawk and
Matt Williams defeating Thomas Andersen and Teli Bobotas 7-6(4) at No. 2.
The Wildcats moved ahead 3-1 with the first three singles decisions. Myers defeated Logan Hammond 7-6(6), 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Williams beat Teli Bobotas 6-2, 6-7(6), 10-6 at No. 3 and
Valentino Barillaro topped Keegan Gill 4-6, 7-6(4), 10-6 at No. 5.
Lycoming got a point at No. 2 singles, where Kayvan Shams defeated Greeley 6-4, 6-0, to make it 3-2. Hawk then clinched the dual for the Wildcats with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Thomas Andersen at No. 4 singles. After the clinch, C. Ambromovage defeated Mason Morrow 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6 to set the final dual score at 5-2 for PCT.
