CENTER VALLEY, Pa. — Penn College faced tough competition at the DeSales Tournament, falling to Rutgers-Camden 3-0 and then to Immaculata 3-0, on Saturday afternoon. The Wildcats dropped to 0-5 overall.
against Rutgers-Camden: The Wildcats dropped set scores of 13-25, 18-25, and 13-25 against Rutgers-Camden in the first match of the day. Penn College finished with 15 kills while Rutgers-Camden notched 39 kills with a .242 hitting percentage.
Lilly Stockum led Penn College with five kills and 7.5 points, contributing two service aces and a block assist.
Peyton Maass recorded a team-high 13 digs and two kills, while
Taryn Smith had six assists and five digs. Gilliam added five points with two kills, two service aces, and a solo block.
Gabby Gbolahan paced Rutgers-Camden with eight kills, a hitting percentage of .462, and one ace. JoAnna Andrews provided 19 assists, while Mia Owens and Nissi Wadieh also had significant contributions.
against Immaculata: In their second match, Penn College faced Immaculata, where they lost in straight sets of 15-25, 22-25, and 15-25. The closest set for the Wildcats came in the second, where they took a brief lead after trailing by four points.
Stockum again led the Wildcats with seven kills and 9.5 points, adding two aces and two digs. Smith recorded team highs of five service aces and eight assists, plus two digs. Maass had five kills with no errors, hitting .294 and leading with eight digs. Falkner contributed four service aces and four digs.
Tara Hirschtritt led Immaculata with 12 kills and a .588 hitting percentage, alongside seven assists. Madi Kyle and Angelica Santini Bulerin also made substantial contributions to their team's success.
