WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. —
Last week marked the opening week for Penn College's fall sports teams as the women's soccer team went 2-0 with victories over Delaware Valley (5-0) and Elmira (2-1). Men's soccer had a balanced first week with a 1-1-1 record, defeating DeSales (2-1), tying Marywood (1-1) in their season opener and dropping a 1-0 decision to Susquehanna.
Men's tennis topped crosstown rival, Lycoming 5-2 on Friday while the women's tennis team opened their season at the King's Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The men's and women's cross country teams competed at the Lebanon Valley Dutchman Invitational on Saturday while women's volleyball is searching for its first victory of the season with five matches scheduled in the upcoming week.
On the horizon: The men's golf team joins the rest of the fall sports in action this week as they begin their 2026-27 season at the Toftrees Invitational hosted by Penn State Altoona on Sunday and Monday.
WOMEN'S SOCCER
Last week's hometown highlights: The Wildcats kicked off their season in impressive fashion against two nonconference opponents, securing a shutout victory against Delaware Valley, 5-0, in their season-opener on Friday at UPMC Field, followed by a 2-1 win against Elmira on Saturday.
In the game against Delaware Valley, Sophomore Megan Kurian (Limerick, Pa.) netted her first hat-trick of the season as she made her statement return from a season-ending injury a year ago. Freshman Camryn Lobb (Lititz, Pa.) added to the scoring total with two second-half goals, while freshman Eva White (Carlisle, Pa.), senior Erin Galanaugh (Swarthmore, Pa.) and senior Holly Herbert (Mount Joy, Pa.) earned assists against the Aggies. PCT outshot DVU, 25-11, and the defense did not allow a shot on goal in the victory.
Saturday against Elmira, Kurian scored a first-half goal from sophomore Ella Garman's (Boiling Springs, Pa.) assist in the 28th minute, and Lobb added an insurance goal in the second half from a Kurian assist at 76:25, before Elmira managed to score just before the final whistle, resulting in a 2-1 finish. Freshman keeper Harley Oliphant (Red Lion, Pa.) posted four saves and improved to 2-0 in net.

MEN'S SOCCER
Last week's hometown highlights: The Wildcats tasted a piece of every outcome as they went 1-1-1 against three nonconference opponents in the season-opening week. They opened with a 1-1 tie against Marywood, followed by an impressive 2-1 win against DeSales, and then faced a tough 1-0 loss against Susquehanna.
Against Marywood on Tuesday, PCT struck first, just 2:02 into the match when sophomore Will Watson (Collegeville, Pa.) scored off sophomore Diego Diaz's (Abbottstown, Pa.) assist for a 1-0 lead. Marywood would net the equalizer in the 38th minute, and neither team would convert for the rest of the match. Sophomore goalkeeper Justin Crismale (Glen Gardner, Pa.) collected six saves in net.
The Wildcats were back in action on Friday hosting DeSales in the home-opener and were put to the test right away when the Bulldogs were awarded a PK in the second minute. Crismale stuffed the attempt with a dive to his right as the two sides went scoreless through the first 45 minutes. Junior Scott Goldfeder (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) opened the scoring on a penalty kick at 46:21, but the Bulldogs nailed equalizer in the 76th minute. Sophomore Silas Miller's (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) quick strike shortly after sealed the win for PCT. Crismale earned five more saves to claim his first victory in goal this season.
Penn College closed out the first week with a hard-fought 1-0 defeat at Susquehanna on Saturday. The River Hawks broke through with the game's lone goal at the 42:39 mark. The Wildcats forced seven saves from the Susquehanna keeper.

Last week's hometown highlights: The Wildcats are still seeking their first victory of the season after dropping five matches in the first week of competition. PCT dropped final scores of 3-0 to Lycoming College, Penn State Altoona, DeSales University, Rutgers-Camden and Immaculata University.
After the first week of action, sophomore Lilly Stockum (Dauphin, Pa.) leads the team with 24 kills followed by junior transfer Peyton Maass (Harrisburg, Pa.) (23) and freshmen Avani Rainier (Williamsport, Pa.) (16) and Samantha Prisco (Milford, Pa.) (10). Sophomore Taryn Smith (Edinburg, Pa.) holds the team lead with 41 assists and eight service aces while Maass has posted a team-high 41 digs. Sophomore Kendall Shade (Reinholds, Pa.) scored a team-best six blocks.

Last week's hometown highlights: The Wildcats defeated cross-town rival Lycoming College, 5-2, utilizing five singles victories to earn the team win. Picking up the singles wins were sophomore Josh Myers (Hughesville, Pa.) at No. 1 (7-6 (8-6), 6-3), senior Matt Williams (West Milford, N.J.) at No. 3 (6-2, 6-7 (6-8), 10-6), sophomore Avery Hawk (York Springs, Pa.) at No. 4 (6-1, 6-1), senior Valentino Barillaro (Selinsgrove, Pa.) at No. 5 (4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 10-6) and sophomore Christian Ambromovage (Exeter, Pa.) at No. 6 (6-4, 6-0). Hawk and Williams earned a doubles win at No. 2 after the Warriors earned the doubles team point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3.

Last week's hometown highlights: Penn College sent four women to compete at the King's Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. sophomore Kiera Wene (Ephrata, Pa.) reached the championship match at No. 4 singles with victories over Marywood (6-0, 6-0) and Misericordia (6-0, 6-1) before dropping a three-set match in the final. sophomore Leah Vest (Muncy, Pa.) went 1-1 in the No. 1 singles bracket with a 6-1, 6-0 victory against King's in the quarterfinal round before falling to Rutgers-Camden, 6-1, 2-0 in the semifinals. Freshman Emma McLaughlin (South Williamsport, Pa.) dropped her collegiate debut singles match against Wilkes, 6-0, 6-4 in the No. 2 bracket. At No. 3, senior Faith Murray (Dillsburg, Pa.) defeated her Marywood opponent, 6-3, 6-0 in the Quarters before falling to Rutgers-Camden, 6-7, 7-5, 8-10 in the semis.

Last week's hometown highlights: Penn College's cross country runners got their season underway at the Lebanon Valley Dutchman Invitational on Saturday as the Wildcats men's team placed sixth with 216 points on the 8K course. Freshman Logan Bohrer (Greencastle, Pa.) led the team with a 28th-place finish in a time of 28:34.7, while sophomore transfer Kate Butzler (Jersey Shore, Pa.) led the Wildcats women individually with a 49th-place finish and a time of 22:10.4 in the 5K race. Finishing behind Butzler for the women's team were seniors Elaina Brad (Big Cover Tannery, Pa.) (62nd) in 22:44.5, and Adelyn McDermott (Linden, Pa.) (95th) in 25:34.0.
Following Bohrer were senior Chase Ebeling (Bellefonte, Pa.) in 36th at 28:56.7 and freshmen Bryce Martin (Souderton, Pa.) in 39th at 29:00.9. Aiden Magnusson (Ridgeway, Pa.) (30:32.7), senior Holden Furey (Williamsport, Pa.) (30:43.6), freshmen Cashlin Rogers (Williamsport, Pa.) (31:40.4), Michael Burcik (Lansdale, Pa.) (32:15.9), Devon Morgan (Ebensburg, Pa.)
