Tyler Cooklin became Penn College’s pitching coach in 2016.
Cooklin, an Iowa native, was a high school all-state selection in football and baseball and attended Iowa Central Community College from 2011-2013. He was named academic all-conference both years.
Cooklin was a member of Penn College’s baseball team in 2014 and 2015. In 2014, Cooklin helped lead the Wildcats to a PSUAC runner-up finish and was named to the all-conference team. In 2015, Cooklin helped Penn College to its first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference title.
In 2016, he pursued his dream of playing professionally. He joined the Doncaster Dragons, of the Victorian Baseball League in Australia, where he batted .408 and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.
