McNichol became the first full-time women’s soccer coach in the program’s history in 2014 as part of the institution’s NCAA strategic initiative.
McNichol guided the Wildcats to their first NEAC playoff appearance in 2015 after an 8-9-3 overall, 7-3-2 NEAC regular season record. Three of his players were named All-NEAC, five garnered USCAA All-Academic honors and one was named USCAA All-America Second Team.
The Wildcats finished 11-9-2 in 2016 en route to NEAC semifinal appearance and four players earning All-Conference honors. With a 9-8-5 mark in the 2017, Penn College earned finished runner-up in the NEAC and have a conference-record seven players earn All-Conference honors.
From 2008-2013, he has served as the top assistant for the King’s College men’s soccer program. In that position, his primary responsibilities included recruiting, scouting and reports, and game and practice preparation. In addition, he also monitored and developed off-season conditioning and worked with goalkeepers.
While there, McNichol helped the program to a 2013 MAC Freedom Conference Championship and a berth to the NCAA tournament. In 2008, the team also won the ECAC South Region Championships. His duties have also included organizing team fundraisers and clinics and helped plan play abroad trips in Europe.
McNichol is also active in the community coaching from the Cantolao Explosion 95/96 Girls Club Team. Since 2012, he has run the U17 team developing training regiments, setting up tournament and showcase schedules, and helping players with recruitment. Under his guidance, the team won the 2014 EPYSA Presidents Cup and participated in the 2014 Region 1 President’s Cup Tournament.
McNichol has also been a fixture at elite camps working as a coach at Bucknell, University of Maryland, Mount Carmel High School, and Rock Rec.
McNichol attended King’s graduating in 2008 with degrees in Marketing and Business Administration and 2010 with a Master of Science in Health Care Administration. From 2004-2008, he was a member of the men’s soccer and baseball teams where he helped both teams make it to conference championships as a goalkeeper and pitcher winning in baseball in 2006. He captained both teams in his senior year.
McNichol is a native of West Chester, Pa. and graduated from Devon Prep in 2004. He currently resides in Wilkes-Barre.
