WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College led wire-to-wire in an 80-51 win over Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 1-2 overall, 1-0 NEAC, while the Phoenix fell to 2-2, 0-1.
Alicia Ross scored a season-high 28 points for Penn College, grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
Jamie Steer finished with 16 points and nine rebounds, and
Danielle Mowery netted 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Wildcats.
Lindsey Purvis finished with 19 points for Wilson.
Penn College opened with a 6-0 lead en route to 23-11 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats continued to score at will in the second quarter and led 39-26 at halftime. The third quarter saw Penn College maintain a double-digit lead throughout, while the Wildcats held a 22 point advantage, 62-40, at the end of the third.
The Wildcats netted 29 points off of turnovers and scored 19 second-chance points.
Penn College returns to action Sunday, 2 p.m., hosting Gallaudet.
