AURORA, N.Y. – Wells College handed Penn College a 93-76 loss in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Express improved to 7-12 overall, 6-8 NEAC, while the Wildcats dropped to 10-11, 9-7.
Jamie Steer led Penn College with 27 points and became just the second player in program history to reach 1,000 career points. Steer joined her sister Kiersten Steer '13 in the 1,000-point club.
Alicia Ross finished with 14 points for the Wildcats and
Charese Bova added 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Holli Erkson scored a game-high 28 points for Wells.
The opening three minutes featured three ties, the final one coming after a Ross free throw made it 7-7 with 16:38 left in the opening half. It was all Wells after that as the Express finished the first half with a 56-31 lead, after shooting 52% from the floor and holding the Wildcats to 33% shooting.
The Express led by as many as 32 points in the second half and their lead never dipped below double-digits.
Penn College returns to action Sunday, 1 p.m., at Keuka.
