SCRANTON, Pa. – Penn College erased a four run deficit with five runs in the top of the ninth inning, before surrendering two unearned runs in the bottom of the frame to drop a 9-8 decision to Marywood University in a non-conference baseball game Sunday. The Wildcats dropped to 1-8, while the Pacers improved to 7-2.
Dan Hull earned the win in one-third innings of work for MU, while
Zach Junk took the loss after two innings, with four strikeouts and two runs scored (neither were earned).
Ryan Hostrander started the game for Penn College and fired a two-hitter with 10 strikeouts through six innings.

Noah Esposito and
Dylan Scaringi each had two hits for the Wildcats. Rall and
Deric Ellerman each knocked in two runs for Penn College.
After three scoreless innings by both teams, the Wildcats tacked on a run in the fourth and seventh innings to lead 2-0. Rall's double in the fourth scored
Cole Weachock before Vigna's single in the seventh plated Scaringi.
Marywood exploded in the seventh with seven runs to take a 7-2 lead.
Scaringi's single in the eighth pulled Penn College within four, 7-3, before the Wildcats heated up in the ninth with five runs. Singles by Simasek, Rall and Esposito resulted in three runs before Ellerman stroked a two-run single to left to give Penn College an 8-7 lead.
Penn College gifted the Pacers two runs in the ninth as an error plated one run and a wild pitch scored the second run to end the contest.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday at Alfred State.
