Box Score 2 ALFRED, N.Y. – Tyler Cooklin was nearly flawless in game one and Penn College's bats came alive in the nightcap as the Wildcats swept a non-conference baseball double-header against Alfred State Tuesday. Penn College won the first game 3-0 and edged the Pioneers 13-10 in eight innings in second game of the twinbill. The Wildcats improved to 3-8.
In Game One,
Cooklin fired a complete-game one-hitter to lead the Wildcats in the opening game. Cooklin was nearly perfect with eight strikeouts, one hit in the fifth inning and a walk and improved to 1-2.
After four innings of scoreless play, Penn College struck for two run in the top of the fifth inning when
Dylan Scaringi's fielder's choice and an error plated both
James Simasek and
Cole Weachock.
The Wildcats tacked on an insurance run in the seventh on
Carlos Rodriguez's RBI single to center.
In Game Two,
The Wildcats exploded for four runs in the extra frame to secure the double-header sweep.
Evan Vigna and Scaringi paced the Penn College offense with four hits each.
Noah Esposito and
Darien Ebersole each had three hits and
Devin Masser finished with two. Scaringi and Esposito each had three RBI.

Penn College returns to action Thursday hosting Mansfield University in a non-conference double-header beginning at 2 p.m.
