Wildcats Sweep Bison


WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College picked up a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball wins against Gallaudet University Saturday. The Wildcats won 13-0 and 3-1 to improve to 3-3 NEAC, 9-12 overall, while the Bison dropped to 3-5, 5-21.

In Game One,
Penn College picked up a run in the second and third inning on a Noah Esposito sacrifice fly and Evan Vigna's RBI single. The Wildcats pumped in four more in the fifth with Vigna's RBI single, Cole Weachock's two run double and James Simasek's one run double to take a 6-0 lead.

Penn College blew the doors off with seven runs in the eighth inning. Rodriguez got things going with a two-run double, Vigna belted a two-run triple, Weachock delivered a sacrifice fly and Andrew Bucher stroked a two-run single.

Vigna and Bucher both finished with three hits for the Wildcats, while Rodriguez and Weachock had two hits each. Vigna had four RBI and Bucher finished with three.

Ryan Hostrander tossed eight innings and improved to 4-1 with nine strikeouts, two walks and just one hit.

In Game Two,
Behind stellar pitching from starter Aaron Palmer, Penn College built a 3-0 lead after six innings. Sacrifice flies from Esposito and Bucher accounted for two runs and Rodriguez' one-run single plated the final score.

Gallaudet added a run in the seventh inning and put Palmer in a jam before Zach Junk relieved him and picked up his fifth save this season.

Palmer improved to 1-1 after 6.2 innings, striking out five, walking one and allowing six hits.

Penn College returns to action Sunday, noon, hosting Lancaster Bible College.
