DALLAS, Pa. -- Misericordia won a pair of games against Penn College in a non-conference softball doubleheader Sunday. The Cougars won the first game 4-3 and took the second contest 8-0. Misericordia improved to 19-11, while the Wildcats fell to 7-21.
In Game One,
Penn College took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning when
Samantha Hill's double to center plated
Alexandra Brennan. The Cougars added a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 3-1 lead.
The Wildcats pumped in two runs in the sixth on a two-run double by
Shelby Lyter to even the game at 3-3. Whitney Ellerman's walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh secured the win for the Cougars.
Lyter threw a complete-game with four strikeouts, two walks and three earned runs.
In Game Two,
Penn College managed just four hits in the game and the Cougars added a run in the fourth and seven the fifth to end the contest.
The Wildcats return to action Monday, 3:30 p.m., at Alfred State.
