Penn College Splits With Keuka


KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Penn College split a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball games with Keuka College Sunday. The Wildcats won the first game 3-2, before the Wolfpack took the second contest 3-1. Penn College is 7-5 NEAC, 13-16 overall, while Keuka sits at 5-7, 13-16.

In Game One,
Carlos Rodriguez' RBI ground out in the ninth plated Dylan Scaringi which broke a 2-2 deadlock and secured a 3-2 win for Penn College.

The Wildcat took an early 1-0 lead on Zach Weil's RBI in the first. Keuka tied the game in the bottom of the first before Noah Esposito's RBI single in the fourth gave Penn College a 2-1 lead. Keuka tied the game in the seventh on a single.

Esposito went 3 for 4 at the plate for the Wildcats and Cole Weachock and Scaringi each finished with two hits.

Tyler Cooklin started the game for Penn College and worked seven innings. He struck out six – including his 100th career K – walked six and allowed two earned runs. Max Bair worked the final two innings and improved to 2-0 after allowing one hit and no runs.

In Game Two,
Keuka led 1-0 after a run in the first before Scaringi evened the game in the second after drawing a bases loaded walk. The Wolfpack added a run in the third and fifth innings.

Penn College missed an opportunity for more runs in the sixth when Rodriguez was caught stealing third and Evan Vigna was gunned down at home following Weachock's single to right.

Kyle Fox fell to 1-2 after five innings on the mound. She struck out two, walked two and allowed three runs (two earned).

Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 2 p.m., hosting Juniata.
